This project is the accumulation of everything I’ve learned throughout the semester. I decided to create a website for my dad’s concrete company, JCC Concrete.

I decided to explore a plugin on WordPress that had caught my attention during my last WordPress project: Elementor. It’s advertised as an “easy” and streamlined website builder, so I wanted to check it out for myself. In my opinion, it’s leagues more intuitive than the base WordPress editor. You have much more freedom to create more complex website layouts and fine-tune elements to your liking. I ended up liking it a lot so I even used it for my dossier/portfolio website.

One thing I disliked about Elementor is that it’s freemium, so you have to pay extra for certain features. One of those features is the ability to add a header/footer to every page, which bothered me. However, I found another plugin, ElementsKit, that allows you to make headers/footers and apply them to all of your pages on your site.

Another plugin I’m proud of using is the Cost Calculator plugin. It lets you create custom calculators for products/services and implement them into your website. I thought that was perfect for the type of website I was building, since it gives an “instant quote” for potential customers.

One thing I feel like I have to mention is that I unfortunately didn’t have time to accompany my dad at work to take pictures at his work sites or with his drone like we planned to. Because of this, I only used copyright-free stock images for the website. I intend to replace these once I have a chance to go out and take pictures on my own and use them the company website once it does go live.
